The construction of the first module of the Sea Water Desalination Plant (SWDP) of Atacama, located in the Caldera commune, has been started, which will provide potable water to the communes of Chañaral, Caldera, Copiapó and Tierra Amarilla. This first module has a capacity of 450 L/s (10.8 MGD), to culminate in a total capacity of 1,200 L/s (28.8 MGD) built in three stages.
GSI developed the Conceptual Engineering of the maritime works of this project, the presentation and processing of the maritime concessions for the pipes of Seawater Intake and Sea Outfall for Brine, as well as the Environmental Impact Study that culminated with the approval of its respective Resolution of Environmental Qualification.
Finally, GSI has been prequalified by ECONSSA Chile, owner of the project, as one of the four engineering consultants that will be able to participate in the EPC tender for the 90 km of pipelines and the 5 potable water pumping stations of the same project.
The total investments of this project exceed 200 million US dollars.
